Kenny's hometown of East Chicago, Indiana named a street after him, and in 2021, inducted Kenny into their Hall of Fame.
Kenny received his B.A. degree in Media Arts from the University of Arizona. Kenny's baseball career and on-field success provided him with opportunities to learn more about the entertainment business post-college. Kenny's former college teammate, Harvey Mason of Harvey Mason Media and current CEO of the The Recording Academy, have worked together in artist development, songwriting and producing. Kenny, along with business partner, Brenton Earley, started Film Pool, Inc. in 2004. Film Pool does post-production film editing and develops original content for television and theater.
A strong believer in giving back, Kenny has always been generous with his time and resources. He helped to refurbish the Little League fields in his hometown. Kenny's philanthropic interests often center on kids, education, family and baseball. Kenny is involved in MLB Players Alumni Association charity events, participates in numerous non-profit golf tournaments and baseball clinics across the country to help raise awareness and resources for organizations like the Children's Miracle Network, Chicago Children's Hospital, Children's Aid Foundation (Canada), and Cleveland Indians Charities to name a few. Kenny serves on the Board of the Still Got Game Foundation.
