BACHAC's Social Health Equity Project is using a racial equity lens to assess the Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs) reports of non-profit healthcare systems in San Mateo County. The goal is to provide policy recommendations leading to transformational change for our communities. Read below the various phases of the project and review the presentation slides and recording from the Community Mini Town Hall held on March 22, 2023. Phase I: Needs Assessment Review
Review CHNAs from Stanford Healthcare/Children's, Sutter, Dignity Health and Kaiser Redwood City and South San Francisco. Review CHNAs for common themes and trends across reports and evaluate data using a racial equity lens (Dec. 22-Feb. 22)
Phase II: Community Collaborations
Conduct Meeting with healthcare stakeholders and host a Community Mini Town Hall to present findings, gather input to development 1 to 2 policy recommendations to address prioritized needs (Mar.-Apr. 2023)
Phase III: Creating System Transformation
Continued collaboration with system stakeholders for sustainable change. Develop strategy and action plan to influence change (Apr.-Jun. 2023)
Phase IV: Continued Collaboration and System Transformation
There are many opportunities for continued collaboration with additional funding, new priorities and policies can be addressed (Jul. 2023 & beyond)
