2024 Men’s Health Block Party & Symposium Saturday, September 21, 8:00am to 1:00pm
Join us on Saturday, September 21 at our FREE Men's Health Block Party & Symposium: Building a Healthier Brotherhood! This engaging community event will address specific health concerns, challenges, and tools to build a healthier brotherhood, one brother at a time. Attendees will also have an opportunity to hear the latest research impacting men's health.
Hosted by Bay Area Community Health Advisory Council (BACHAC) in partnership with Sequoia Health & Wellness Center, UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center, San Mateo County Health, Kaiser and Umoja Health, this inclusive event offers a holistic approach to family wellness with workshops, interactive demonstrations, live entertainment, and activities for all ages.
Registration opens at 8:00am, Screenings start at 8:30am, Symposium starts at 9:30am.
2023 Recap
The Men's Health Block Party & Symposium was an engaging and energetic community day thanks to all of you who signed up, showed up, and participated! We welcomed close to 120 people and were happy to be joined by committed experts in medicine and health who shared their knowledge about "building a healthier brotherhood" in several workshops focused on men's health and well-being. Here are some takeaways from the day:
We had our highest level of student volunteers from several San Mateo county high schools,
San Francisco State University, College of San Mateo,
Canada College, and Stanford Medical School
47 PPE Goodie Bags were distributed
21 men received Blood Pressure checks, 16 people were tested for HIV and Hep C, 10 men receive DRE exams for Prostate Cancer screenings, 7 men received Glucose checks, and 33 FIT kits (colorectal cancer screening) were distributed
This is the first year we added the Umoja Health Village and Block Party to the Men's Health event!
